About Charitable Foundation
  • Our connection with the local communities we serve runs deep within our company’s culture, and we are active and passionate about delivering meaningful responses to the needs of worthwhile causes.

    The Nelson Alexander Charitable Foundation was established in 2005 to provide a platform for staff participation in community service. Our blog and facebook page will be updated regularly with information on our current news and activities.

Staff Involvement
  • The Foundation is run by a committee of employees who encourage all staff to be proactive in their involvement, identifying particular causes and organisations that they wish to support.

    In addition Nelson Alexander staff are granted two days paid leave per year to participate in volunteer programs of their choice.

Fundraising
  • Our major annual fundraiser is Foundation Day, whereby each of our eleven offices donates the professional fee from one of their auctions to their chosen local charity. This fundraiser alone has generated in the vicinity of $800,000 since its inception in 2007.

    In addition to Foundation Day, The Charitable Foundation has raised and distributed a further $200,000 through ongoing funds as a generated fixed dollar amount from each Nelson Alexander sale.

Funding Criteria
  • The Foundation considers applications for any project or program that demonstrates a benefit to our local community, particularly where there is a direct benefit to the disadvantaged.

     

    If you wish to apply for funding please review the funding criteria and submit your application to kerrynd@nelsonalexander.com.au or alternatively speak to your local Nelson Alexander representative.

     

      The Foundation considers applications for the following:

      • Specific items contributing to community events.
      • Cultural & educational programs/events.
      • Equipment eg medical, sporting, office.
      • Improvement in the quality of life for a person/group.

       

      Please note the committee is not able to consider requests for the following:

      • Ongoing administration costs, such as staff wages.
      • Projects that are for an organisations core business purposes.
      • Donations to general appeals, sponsorships or other general funding foundations.
      • Capital items that would normally be funded wholly through government sources.
      • Projects that require recurrent funding.
      • Projects outside our geographic footprint.

Application Process
  • The Foundation operates a two tiered grants programme, which distributes in the vicinity of $200,000 per annum. Information regarding the application process is detailed below:

     

      Small monthly grants:

       

      Foundation Day grants:

      Our major annual fundraiser is Foundation Day, whereby each of our eleven offices donates the professional fee from one of their auctions to their chosen local charity.

      • Applications open 01 July & close 01 August, each year.
      • Grants in the vicinity of $8,000 - $30,000.
      • Maximum number of Foundation Day grants: 11 local charities

  • The Foundation has won numerous awards – including the 2012, 2009, 2008 and 2007 Real Estate Institute of Victoria Community Service Award along with being recognised nationally in the same category by the Real Estate Institute of Australia in 2010 and 2008.
