HERITAGE SITE PENTHOUSE

This exceptionally spacious apartment in the impeccably maintained Carlton Fire Station development, designed by the noted architect Cedric Ballantyne (1928), offers light-filled living minutes from the CBD, Lygon St and universities. Flowing to an expansive walled balcony (48 sq.m. approx.) with sweeping views, the residence incorporates a well-proportioned living and dining room open to a neat kitchen, two double bedrooms (BIRs), large bathroom (bath and shower) and a concealed laundry. Included are garaging, intercom security, double glazing and split-system air conditioning.

Owners Notes

What we love about this home:

We love the huge outdoor space for entertaining friends, for growing vegies, herbs, chilli plants, and the full size clothes line, which is very unusual in apartments. Despite being almost in the city, it is very quiet at night. We love how light it gets during the day. The owners’ corporation residents’ committee is extremely active and well run, and, the owners corporation management company is excellent, so this lovely old building is well cared for.

What we love about this suburb:

We are walking distance to the Queen Victoria Market, Lygon St, work and the CBD. There is excellent walking access to cinemas, theatres, cafes, restaurants, local shops and delicatessens. We are surrounded by beautiful parkland so it is an outdoor exerciser’s delight. There are several very good fitness centers and swimming pools within walking distance as well. We have enjoyed memberships to the Melbourne City Baths and Melbourne University’s Sports Centre. Since moving here, we used our car so infrequently that we sold it.

Why we are selling:

We have loved living in this apartment for the last 7 years, but due to changing family circumstances, we unfortunately have to move.

Any other information:
Our quirky shaped car space means that two cars, a small and a large, can fit on the allocated area. There us a communal herb garden in the ground floor courtyard that was kindly planted by a past owner. Residents are welcome to help themselves to fresh mint, oregano, sage, chillis, thyme, parsley and rosemary to name a few.
