SPACE & STYLE: AN ENTERTAINER'S DELIGHT
Owners Notes
It will be hard to say goodbye to our home of the past 12 years, a home we saw constructed from the ground up. Working closely with the builder enabled us to add our own touches, including a fully custom-built kitchen with double thick granite bench-tops, and to ‘future-proof’ the home by wiring it for back-to-base alarm monitoring & tv antennae points to both lower-level bedrooms.
Our design principles were simple; understated elegance; functional spaces and high quality fittings throughout. Our decision to enclose the patio space some 6 years ago truly transformed the living spaces, allowing us to enjoy a true indoor/outdoor lifestyle and turning the home into an entertainer’s delight.
What can we say about the location of our home? Having sold an apartment on Lygon Street, Brunswick East, we were initially hesitant about being ‘away from the action’. But what we soon discovered was that we’d bought into a little slice of the country a mere 6 kms from the city. Where else within such close proximity to the CBD are you likely to hear chooks clucking away next door, or the gentle bleating of a sheep two doors away?
As busy city-based professionals we’ve loved the convenience that the location has provided; whether it be the bus stop at the end of the street and the 15 minute train commute to the CBD or the 55 tram winding its way through the tranquillity of Royal Park into town. As recreational cyclists we’ve also loved the safety and convenience of having the Moonee Ponds Creek trail running past the bottom of the property, taking us to a well-earned coffee and pastry at Docklands inside 25 minutes.
The home’s location provides a wealth of lifestyle options; from the hustle and bustle of Sydney Road and the café culture of Lygon Street, Brunswick East to the village feel of Puckle Street a short stroll past Moonee Valley Racecourse. Parklands and green spaces abound nearby, from Denzil Don and Holbrook Reserves to Queens Park in Moonee Ponds, where Burke & Wills first made camp on their 1860 expedition.
We’ve loved our home and fastidiously tended to its needs since its construction. Now it’s time to turn the keys over to someone else; someone we know will enjoy its features, location and convenience every bit as much as we did.
