Owners Notes

What we love about this home:

Space, space, space. This home is about large areas of flexible space that can be set up to suit your lifestyle. Such a unique mix of 3-4 bedroom home and New York warehouse apartment! Who needs a balcony when you have a large, sheltered and sunny outdoor room with space for a car, too.

We love that this has the amenity and grace of a house with the convenience of apartment-style living. On a practical level, we love the solid brick which keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer (there’s 2’ thick insulation in the roof too).

If you’re a cyclist there’s a direct path to the city and all the attractions en-route (cafes, bars, parks, zoo, Vic Market), right at the front door. And with a walk score of 76 you don’t have to lycra-up to get about. Leave the car out the back (or in one of the always available street parks) and stroll to regular trams, trains and buses.

What we love about this suburb:

The history of this home gives you a real connection with Coburg too.  The block of three former shops was built in the 1920s.  The largest of the three, for many years this shop served as the Coburg milk bar which you can see on the sign on the front/side of the awning.

Coburg is a great blend of inner city and suburb; there’s a real hubbub about the place on weekends, but close the door at the end of the day it’s restfully quiet. Part of the progressive Moreland shire, Sydney Road is set for development to enhance retail and transport, sustainability and lifestyle amenity, while this side of the rail track is zone A residential to keep the character of the area. This was one of the reasons we bought here. It will be a boon for future property value.

Why we are selling:

We’re selling to relocate to the beach and a place with a workshop to accommodate my metalwork addiction! So very sorry to let the home in Coburg go…

Any other information:

It’s an eighteen-minute drive or a 30-minute ride to the CBD. There’s a train every 10-15 minutes from Coburg Station which is a 5-minute walk – the trip to the CBD is about 20 minutes. The Coburg market is close to the train station as are myriad shops. Further east along O’Hea street is North Coburg primary school (one of many nearby) which becomes a fantastic Farmers market once a month. A boutique shopping, restaurant and cinema complex is due to open just across Sydney Road in the Pentridge precinct. There are three lovely parks and the Merry Creek park and bike track close by.
