Owners Notes

Location and convenience:

We didn’t realise just how fantastic this location is until moving here. This seems to be a sweet spot that is a short distance from many local social hubs. The village of North Fitzroy is a short, enjoyable walk across Edinburgh gardens with its sport facilities, dog park & playgrounds. The newly built library, Piedimontes supermarket, organic supermarket & primary school sit near cafes & quirky stores. Brunswick & Smith Streets both start a short stroll away & you can walk right into Melbourne or take the 86 tram which stops just around the corner. Queen’s Parade has many services, shops & cafes and it doesn’t take long until you are recognised by the friendly people who work there.

Westgarth cinema can be reached with a 20 min walk up beautiful McKean Street. Fine dining at The Reservation restaurant is 3 mins away. There is always ample parking in front of the house, with no restrictions.

Flexibility:

We have found the house has met all our needs as the family changed. We first moved in with five young adult children, who came and went at various times and often had friends to stay. We mainly used the ground floor for young people and had a pool table and surround sound TV. At one stage my daughter and her boyfriend used the ground floor as a flat and after that, it was rented out to a couple who worked in Westgarth. When I have had access to the courtyard I love being able to hang the clothes outside. My partner had originally wanted a garage, but he found that the workshop indoors was just as convenient for most jobs and storage and was always warm & dry!

The Joy of coming home:

I can honestly say this home always lifts my spirits. The open spaces and high ceilings, the ever changing views & light through the windows give one a feeling of peace. Surprisingly, it is remarkably quiet most of the time and one often hears birdsong. My favourite place to sit is the retreat upstairs where you can sit and read or drink tea, looking out at the sky no matter what the weather or time of day.
