Owners Notes
We’ve lived at 23D Grant Street, Clifton Hill, for five years and we’ve loved our time in this beautiful, green neighbourhood, so close to the city. We’re relocating to the other side of the city so, sadly it’s time to leave our Clifton Hill home.
This is such a great place to live, for so many reasons, not least of which is the actual immediate apartment community itself. We’ve got wonderful neighbours – families on either side, and all properties nearest us are owner-occupied; most apartments are. I’ve been the Chair of the Owner’s Corporation for the past 2 years and can vouch for the collaborative, supportive and committed group of neighbours who make up the committee. In recent times we’ve done some saving and in 2016 we completely refreshed the exterior of the block. All owners want the place looking its best.
There are so many aspects of 23D that we love. We love the size of the apartment, the easy flow between areas, the abundant natural light and airiness. We love the size of the master bedroom and the priceless, stunning views across the city, which we’ll miss very much. It’s beautiful sitting in the lounge, gazing out across to Kew, with the breeze coming in the door. From both perspectives, we’ve got a sprawling, beautiful vista.
In our first year, we completely renovated downstairs: new floor coverings and a brand new kitchen, which we’ll also miss – we put a lot of time into getting it just right. We’ve installed new cabinetry and shelving in all bedrooms and hallways; the entire property was painted about 2 years ago. Outside, we’ve replaced both balconies with quality merbau decking and created relaxing, useable outside spaces.
Clifton Hill was new to us when we arrived and what a fantastic surprise it’s been. We’re surrounded by parks and gardens, there are bike tracks everywhere, we regularly walk along the banks of the Merri Creek (listening to kookaburras sometimes!) and yet we’re literally just minutes from the city. It really is unique in that way. There are 2 train lines which run through Clifton Hill so it’s unusual to have to wait long and if we catch the express, we’re at Flinders Street in 8 minutes! There’s a tram and bus nearby too. The connections from here are pretty amazing.
The inner-north is very special. There are fantastic cafes within minutes of home, and then we’re also on the doorstep of the Westgarth Hill, Fitzroy and Collingwood, so there are even more. We eat out a lot, because with so many restaurants to try, it’s hard not to. Locally, (amongst other things) there are gyms, a quality butcher, 2 green grocers, a continental supermarket, a deli, pubs and a fantastic yoga studio! It’s all here.
There’s so much to love about living here. Clifton Hill wasn’t exactly on our radar when we found 23D Grant Street but we’re so pleased we did.
