Owners Notes

What we love about this home

We had the opportunity to build exactly what we wanted, so of course we love it. The kitchen is great when entertaining, the spotted gum has a lovely natural feel, and we always see something new when looking at the granite from different angles. The big windows flood the house with light, so we rarely use any lighting during the day or early evening. We call our main balcony the sunset balcony, as it’s great for watching the weather change across Ivanhoe. The house sits on a prominent corner, and people remember it.

What we love about this suburb

We love seeing our neighbours out for walks with their families and dogs, and we’ve always felt safe walking around our neighbourhood. We often find ourselves walking to the station with the same neighbours which is nice. The Ivanhoe Aquatic Centre is close, with the gym and swimming pool both recently upgraded. We’re also sandwiched between two large shopping strips so we’re spoilt for choice when going out for dinner. We’re also close to a few hospitals, so we feel very secure that help isn’t far away for our young children, or our own specialist appointments.

Why we are selling

We built this house and enjoyed the process. Now that the kids have grown a little we’ve got itchy feet and decided to find another project. We fell in love with a renovators delight that should keep us happy for the next few years.

Vendor Review

Gordon Hope - A great operator

During the process of buying and selling our house we had the opportunity to have Gordon with us on both sides of the fence, initially as a buyer's advocate and shortly after as our agent. We spent a lot of time with Gordon Hope and Sarah Risteski and remained fully informed of the strategic approaches in both cases, outlining our best and worst options and all possible contingencies along the way. We felt we had a good feel for the market and Gordon's opinions matched that of our own, even while the market was falling away last year (mid 2018). As an aside, Gordon was the only agent we engaged that didn't dictate to or dismiss my wife's comments and opinions, treating her with equal respect. We wanted to ensure our agent left a great impression on any of our potential buyers, and Gordon certainly made that happen. When we have more property to buy or sell, Nelson Alexander will top our list.
