Spacious home with dual living possibilities
Owners Notes
After 25 years living at 46 Ramsden Street, it is with some sadness we are leaving to take up an opportunity interstate.
Over the years, the Victorian part of our house has been carefully restored and a modern, spacious extension constructed at the rear of the building.
The front part of the house was home to my first family for five years. When my then partner and I separated we wanted to create a dual occupancy house to ensure both parents were around to look after our daughter while at the same time enabling independent living for each parent. The resulting renovation in 2000 created two dwellings, each with their own kitchens, bathrooms, entry points etc.
In 2005 we completed another renovation as you see the house today, to further accommodate our family.
Having a two bedroom dwelling in the front of the house has been a fantastic place to accommodate extended family and friends at various times. The arrangement provides options for older children who want some independence, a place for older parents, or as an Airbnb rental.
The East Clifton Hill neighbourhood has been an amazing place to bring up a family. It is a quiet little village on the edge of the city, close to beautiful parks and bike paths along the Merri Creek and Yarra River (literally at the end of the street), walking proximity to local cafes, primary schools and the train station offering two lines and frequent transport to the city.
Our beautiful house has provided us with the space we needed with a growing family and their friends and we will miss the glorious winter sun streaming into the rear living areas during the cooler months. The backyard has seen many social occasions and was big enough for a trampoline and basketball ring to keep the kids happy.
