SPACIOUS FAMILY ACCOMMODATION IN CENTRAL LOCATION
Owners Notes
What we love about this home:
We have been living in this large family home for almost 10 years and have enjoyed being surrounded by trees. It feels like the city is so far away yet takes about 30mins to travel to. We have only recently purchased a car.
One of the best aspects of this home is the city views, especially from the upstairs balcony, on a warm summers night, with a southerly breeze cooling you down! We have hardly used the A/C or heater over the years, as due to the orientation of our home, temperature control can be easily managed. We have been collecting water from the garage for the garden over this period and if we were staying longer, solar panels were going to be placed on the roof.
It has been great to modernise the house yet keep many original features. Including the kitchen, laundry main living area, as well as create a study nook. We have enjoyed designing and establishing the garden with fruit trees (lemon, lime, plum, apple, nectarine and apricot) and veggie patches, making it an even more sustainable family home. Not to mention some colourful native and exotic plants. It is also easy to entertain in the back yard under the veranda too.
All of our friends have commented on how big the house is, especially with the two living areas and double garage. None of the rooms are small! It makes for a great family home, where the back-extension area is like a parent’s retreat, that can be closed off from the main house. The lockable double garage is a great workshop and storage space.
What we love about this suburb:
Location, I know it’s a common statement, however Reservoir is really blessed with great public transport (bus, train, tram) about 10-minute easy walk. Good, friendly local shops (like what you grew up with as a child) and the second largest lake in Melbourne – Edwards Lake are within 1km of the property. While Preston Market and great value (new) restaurants are not too far away, either. The western ring road is near enough too.
If you have a dog, there is a dog park next door, or if cricket or footy is more your “thing” you don’t have to go too far, either. It is a quiet, friendly neighbourhood, with no through traffic.
Our home is in the Reservoir West Primary School catchment, great local primary school and Preston High School is opening up soon too.
