Owners Notes

What we love about this home:

We purchased this property almost 6 years ago. Some of the things that appealed to us were the location (close to the shops, train station and leisure centre), the size of the block and the workshop. After a couple of years of living here we decided to do some internal renovations and so laid new floorboards, opened up the living and dining space, and renovated the kitchen. The house was also rewired at this time. Over the years we have also made changes to the gardens to make it a more useable space.

We particularly love the outdoor spaces in the house. The deck and undercover carport have been excellent for entertaining in any weather, the backyard is very pet/child-friendly, the front garden gets beautiful sunlight and is great for growing vegies, and the side courtyard/fernery is a really peaceful place to relax.

The house feels bright and fresh, and it’s lovely that the windows of the main living area looks out onto so much greenery. Our favourite thing about the house itself is probably the floorboards. They are made from recycled timber and have a lot of character. We also love the size of the kitchen. It’s nice to cook in an open plan living space and overlooking the back deck – particularly when we have friends over.

The workshop has been handy for us, and used for this purpose, but we imagine that it would be easily converted into a studio/gym/extra living space.

What we love about this suburb:

We didn’t know much about Reservoir when we bought here but have really enjoyed the suburb and, if it wasn’t for wanting to be closer to family, would definitely be staying. Thornbury/Northcote are a 10/15-minute drive away and it only takes 25 mins by car to get into the city. Our house is close to the pools/gym, parks, walking tracks and shops. It has been so convenient to have great café’s a short walk away and, of course, handy that the train station is down the road.

Reservoir has changed dramatically over the short period that we have lived here, and we know that it has a lot more growing to do. There are constantly new bars and restaurants opening up in the area and the community feel to the suburb has been a nice surprise.

One thing that we will really miss are our wonderful neighbours. It has been lovely to be surrounded by people who are so friendly and who are always willing to help out.

Why we are selling:

Now that we have children we have decided to move closer to family. If it wasn’t for this, we wouldn’t be moving.
