Elegant Edwardian home tailored for family entertaining
Owners Notes
We moved into our home a little over ten years ago after acknowledging that our inner-city terrace simply wasn’t big enough for our growing family. At the time we hardly knew Northcote & Thornbury but we soon found ourselves immersed in a friendly, diverse & thriving community. Our house was fully renovated when we moved in. A few years ago, we landscaped the back yard, constructed the carport & put in a pool. This has created a backyard oasis, which has been brilliant over the last few summers for family & friends. The garden & pool was designed by Ros McCully (www.rosmccullygardens.com.au) & for us it completed the house & garden. The front & rear gardens & pool are easy to maintain, there’s a watering system for the garden, a rainwater tank, & the pool (our first) is easy to look after. There is a ‘bench’ in the pool to sit on sunny days! We particularly enjoy the space & light of the house, the comfort & size of the rooms, & being able to open up the rear doors to enjoy the fresh air. It is a great home for indoor/outdoor entertaining. Public transport is easy, with trams on High St, buses around the corner, & the Mernda train line (Croxton station) an easy walk. There are great schools in close proximity including Wales Street Primary a few blocks away. High St Northcote/Thornbury has many great restaurants, café’s, bars & shops. There are back street cafés like the Red Door Corner Store or the Jerry Joy Café close by. There’s live music at The Northcote Social Club, The Croxton & The Thornbury Theatre, great bars & pubs (Carwyn Cellars, Wesley Anne), cafes (Brother Alec, Little Henri), restaurants (Estelle, Northern Git, il Pizziola, IROHA), & Welcome to Thornbury. Shopping is excellent along High Street, & the Northcote Plaza, which adjoins All Nations Park is a five-minute walk.
