I have lived at 6 Delbridge Street close to 25 years. I love the house and I love the area with a passion. Over the years it has been a home to many friends and family. The house has a amazing capacity to expand and contract as needed, to be flexible. There were four of us living here during lockdown, all with our own living and work areas. Remarkable.
I love the extension that runs across the back of the property. I added this on 10 years ago. Best home office ever – and I say this after a lifetime of working from home. The workshop (I love making things) in addition to being a super flexible woodworking area, also proved to be an extremely useful storeroom/pantry during lockdown when we were all buying too much toilet paper and pasta.
There is a great sense of community to the area. The schools, the Rushall community garden (I recommend putting your name down on the waiting list for a plot as soon as possible), the local shopkeepers – everyone knows everyone. I love it.
You can walk pretty well everywhere with ease – to the city, to Westgarth Cinema, to Edinburgh and Darling Gardens, to the Collingwood and Fitzroy swimming pools and tennis courts. Supermarkets, cafes, bars, live music venues area all within easy reach. And the public transport is second to none. Fantastic. Not to mention all the bike paths.
