The home:

Our distinctive local property with the blue door and flowering native gardens was fully renovated and extended in 2004. We have owned the property for 14 years and loved it.

The narrow one-way street lends itself to a quiet and friendly neighbourhood. Be prepared – the pin drop silence at night may take a bit of getting used to!

Hydronic heating and ducted air conditioning throughout provide very effective (and quiet) climate control during the extremes of Melbourne’s weather. Deciduous planting and external translucent blinds provide effective solar control during summer while allowing sunlight to stream through the private, north-west courtyard into the lounge and dining areas during the cooler months. The aircon is zoned and controlled via tablet with a user-friendly phone app for off-site management.

It’s a great house for entertaining. As well as hosting intimate dinners with friends, we’ve had occasional parties of 40-50 people which this place accommodates nicely. We love the setup of the kitchen, huge pantry and dining. The sightlines across the entire width of the house and courtyards are excellent for keeping an eye on the young and not-so-young.

There is massive, tardis-like storage across two attic areas (one walk up, one via pull-down stair), study and laundry.

The rest of the home speaks for itself – it is a sizeable, comfortable and stylish architect-designed home with quality finishes and off-street parking.

The location:

This one is easy. Clifton Hill offers one of the best inner urban lifestyles in Australia. The Merri Creek and Yarra trails are at the end of the street – it’s hard to believe these beautiful and tranquil places are so close to the city. There is a great primary school and a choice of three playgrounds around the corner. Ten minutes’ walk away are Darling Gardens, the pool and Queens Parade (with the pubs, restaurants and cafes of Collingwood not far beyond).
