Owners Notes

It has been our pleasure to live in this wonderful property for the last three years. We love all the things on offer in this vibrant part of the city.

Preston is starting to boom, with the Preston Market down the road and Northland Shopping Centre two mins in the opposite direction, along with the variety of Asian restaurants, noodle places and dumpling bars along High St – there is something to tempt everyone.  We often visit one of the restaurants on the weekend for a cheap meal. In the few years that we have been here, it has taken off with a number of hip venues opening, including Dexter on High Street, Racoon, and our favourite that has become our local, Stray Neighbour, a short stroll away.

Nestled on a quiet tree lined street with friendly neighbours and several schools nearby, there is a real sense of community, which is not always found in an urban area.  We have enjoyed renovating this house to make it a surprisingly spacious welcoming family home. We have done lots of entertaining here and the large open plan area at the back is ideal for this – and when you open the bi-folds it certainly makes the area even larger to entertain in.

The kitchen has been a particular joy and we have spared no expense in ensuring top quality products and finishes have been fitted. We are foodies who love to cook, maybe we got a little carried away fitting 3 ovens, but have found uses for all of them. The dedicated steam oven has provided many healthy meals and the combi microwave has been great for the two of us.  The full size free standing oven has catered for many a large gathering. The Butler’s pantry is great, including a 2nd dishwasher; you can put all the dishes in there and close the door when entertaining.

We have converted the massive shed out the back to offer a studio bedroom and bathroom which has been excellent when people have come to stay and you need an extra room. We have added plumbing and electrical to the remainder of the space which will give the new owner complete flexibility to convert this any way they want.  The site needed a lot of clearing and we have replanted and we are a little disappointed we are not going to see the foliage take off.

We have had a few New Year celebrations at home and whilst standing on the deck you do get glimpses of the fireworks in the city – which is a real bonus. All in all we hope the next person who lives in this home will enjoy it as much as we have.
