Owners Notes
Our home has been in the family since the early 50’s when our parents immigrated from Italy. As children growing up in Carlton North, we always enjoyed a friendly neighbourhood with a great sense of community.
There are so many wonderful memories, however, some of our fondest have been waiting of a morning for the milk man with his draft horse and cart, who would travel down Canning Street. Wine making as well as producing our own freshly bottled tomato sauce was also a great family affair which took place in the back yard, close to the shed.
Even though there were fruiterers in Nicholson Street, our mother was the green thumb of the family and she would grow magnificent vegetables in our vegetable patch in the back yard, year after year.
Like most families, the kitchen is the heart of the home and is a gathering place. Our parents extended the kitchen so that we could all enjoy spending time with family and friends and celebrating special occasions.
Carlton has truly enjoyed the fruits of immigration. There is an outstanding Italian delicatessen in walking distance, there are also two exceptional butchers, a fishmonger, bread shops and not to mention the countless cafes and eateries all located in Nicholson Street.
Within 2 kilometres, there are two local supermarkets, kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and glorious parklands for everyone to enjoy.
Venturing out, be it by car, public transport, bike riding or simply walking, you are also close to the CBD, the Lygon Street shopping precinct, Rathdowne Street and Brunswick Street. Living in Carlton North will truly be a wonderful experience where you can share great memories with families and friends, just as we have.
