What we love about this home:

We love the feeling of space and airiness, with large and bright rooms with high ceilings in our home. We love the huge shopfront room, which provides a fantastic entertaining space, and also allows us to easily work from home. We’re very fond of the terrazzo floors and the chrome window frames (guessing circa 1960/70s), as they give a great sense of our home’s more recent history.

Our home has two very large and separate living spaces, so as a family, we never feel that we’re on top of one another. There is always a separate retreat for cooking, homework, entertaining or a quiet reading space. We love having hosted many events for our family and friends in our huge bright shopfront room!

The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, with plush carpets and built in robes; and our huge main bedroom overlooks the plantation and rooftops, which is beautiful.

What we love about this suburb:

This is the quiet leafy end of Rathdowne Street, yet we’re still in the midst of inner city living. The plantation provides us with shade in summer and light in winter.

There are two tram lines a few minutes’ walk away and we’re a 15-20 minute walk from the heart of Carlton. We have three local primary schools within an easy walk, along with childcare centers and Princes Hill Secondary College. Also, nearby is Princes Park, Curtain Square, Capital City bike trail and the Carlton Baths.

We’re so lucky to have grocers, post-office, newsagents, medical clinic, pharmacy, beautiful gift-shops, multiple restaurants and cafes all in Rathdowne Street. We enjoy meals with the family at our local, The Great Northern Hotel (a great old pub!) and are spoilt for choice with the cafes in The Village. A new-comer and favourite is Fledgling Espresso, delicious; and Gerald’s is the best for wining and dining.

There is just an endless list of amenities living in North Carlton!

Why we are selling:

It hasn’t been an easy decision to sell, as we are very attached to our home here in Rathdowne Street, however our family needs have changed with a recent addition to the family.
