Tranquil balcony terrace with garden oasis
Owners Notes
We adore our home at 5 Canning Street but sadly it is time to move on. We have found this house to have a lovely feel. With Pleasance Gardens out the front, the front and back courtyards and the extensive shared garden out the back have helped add to the relaxed and natural feel of the house.
The children love to meet with their friends in the park in the afternoons after school or on weekends, kicking the ball or making obstacle courses for themselves. They also like to hangout in the backyard and with little ones it is comforting to know they are not too far away.
The dining/lounge room and kitchen area is a lovely place to catch up with the family after a long day. We have enjoyed the light streaming in from the skylight and the outlook into the courtyard and beyond. My husband enjoys sitting in the living room looking out to the courtyard and the trees and plants in the shared garden – it gives him a sense of being far away from his work in the city.
I have personally enjoyed sitting out on the balcony or in our front courtyard drinking tea and saying hello to our friendly community. Also, its lovely sitting out the back enjoying a glass of wine by the fire or going out into the shared garden and having drinks with the neighbours. In the warmer months it’s nice to go out into the back yard and feel the earth under your feet, to sit and enjoy the wildlife, meditate or even practice yoga.
It’s been lovely to celebrate events in the shared garden with family and friends and to celebrate Christmas with a breakfast with our neighbours.
Canning Street is such a convenient location. It’s walking distance to all the schools in the area, hospitals, Royal Children’s park, Royal Park, Errol Street cafes and restaurants, public transport, the Queen Victoria Market and the City.
We are very lucky to be staying in the area and still enjoying the convenience and the community.
