Urban Oasis of Space and Style
Owners Notes
What we love about this home:
The amenity that comes with this house is almost unbeatable. The location is absolutely fantastic. A quiet street with no through traffic so close to Sydney Rd. Walking distance to everything you could possibly want – trains (6min to Brunswick station), trams (3min to Sydney Rd, 10min to Lygon St), buses, your choice of supermarkets (Woolworths, Aldi, Mediterranean Wholesalers), great restaurants, Barkley Square, Brunswick Baths and Princes Park. In our 20’s to pubs and bars. In our 30’s with a young family to childcare, the library, the maternal health nurse, parks, plus a short train ride to the zoo. You don’t need a car living here – but we still have two car spaces, and there is all day parking on Eveline St for any visitors.
We have loved the internal space and functionality of the house, easy to heat and cool, easy to clean and maintain, with heaps of storage room and lots of natural light. I have loved working from home in our study, overlooking the garden and watching the birds that call our backyard home – wattle birds, turtle doves, white plumed honeyeaters. We are the largest house within the development. As the initial trial zone, we were one of the first houses in Australia to get NBN, so we have fibre to the house. Our 5kW solar array means we have net zero annual electricity bills. We especially love the garden, watching it change and grow throughout the seasons. The deck and garden beds have been designed to maximise the use of natural sun and shade year round.
There are also no strata and no body corporate fees. We did plan to renovate prior to our decision to sell, and as part of the design process we have permits to repurpose the garage and add an extension to the front.
Sometimes it is the intangible things that make a place great to live. We have a very neighbourly street, people say hello and have a chat, we have an annual street Christmas party, and it feels safe here.
What we love about this suburb:
Brunswick is multicultural – and enjoys all the benefits that come with that – especially the variety of food! It’s a suburb that has heaps of community spirit, with festivals, markets and events throughout the year. There is fantastic street art dotted around the place. It’s excellent for anyone who might be an op-shop-aholic. And it is so close to the city.
Why we are selling:
We have loved living here for 10 years. But we now have a growing family and it is time we found the place that will fit us all for the next 20 years.
