Owners Notes
What we love about this home:
We built our wonderful home over 13 years ago and raised our 3 daughters here. We worked with Inform on a design that would allow for a young and growing family to thrive. We are also very social people so having a home that allowed for entertaining of many people was paramount. Upstairs we have the kid’s zone which is completely separate from the parents retreat. There are 3 good sized bedrooms with robes, a bathroom with bath and shower plus separate toilet, and a large playroom/TV room. The kids can be in there having lots of fun with their friends and it doesn’t infringe on our privacy in the main bedroom. Downstairs we have a separate study, which was great as I worked from home plus a living room for ‘adult conversation time.’ The best part of our home is the open plan living, kitchen and dining area that extends to a 100m2 outdoor deck. When the kids were little I could be in the kitchen and always see them playing outside. It is an entertainer’s home – we have easily accommodated parties of up to 150 people to intimate gatherings of just 10. Our friends and family love coming to our place as parents can relax and have a great time knowing their kids are having a great time too – we can sit outside and not even hear the kids as they are either playing outside on the trampoline or play equipment, in the front living room playing Wiii or upstairs with puzzles and board games. The large laundry is also an added bonus for entertaining as it can accommodate a second fridge and there is plenty of extra bench space. In winter, we still do plenty of entertaining with our beautiful wood fireplace featuring Carrera marble. It is a versatile house that accommodates young and older children and allows for connections with broader family and friends in winter and summer.
There is a real rural feel to our home as well. As you sit on the back deck your view is of 100+ year old gum trees and not another person’s home.
What we love about this suburb:
We built in the Springthorpe Estate in Macleod for so many reasons. Springthorpe is a little rural oasis in the middle of an established suburb, and only 15km from Melbourne CBD. There were lots of attraction to Springthorpe itself: beautifully designed estate; rural setting; close and connected community; access to the Country Club which includes a pool and gym. In addition, Springthorpe is walking distance to plenty of public transport – Macleod train station and the 86 Plenty Road tram. An added bonus for us was the 548 bus that runs through Springthorpe (and in fact by our front home) and travels to Cotham Rd, Kew (through Ivanhoe), as we had always wanted the kids to attend a private school in Kew. At the end of the street there is a Woolworths and Dan Murphy’s and plenty of restaurants. We were able to build our dream house in an established suburb within 15km of Melbourne with a quiet unique rural setting.
Why we are selling:
Our children have grown up and we both have very busy and pressured jobs. We are looking to down-size into something smaller and more manageable given our time pressures.
