UNDER OFFER - Parkside Living with Art Deco Charm

*** This property is available for inspection by appointment - Please contact us to arrange a suitable time ****

Thoughtfully renovated to celebrate its original Art Deco heritage, this free-standing, 3 bedroom and two bathroom home sits on the most convenient corner block, directly opposite enclosed parkland (perfect for dog lovers)!
Inspired by light, texture and nature, this home includes rich polished timber floors, exposed brickwork, decorated ceiling details, original fireplaces, timber doors and picture rails, which have all been tastefully restored, adding a unique charm to the home.
With ample light, this flexible floor plan presents an impressive galley kitchen with a heritage SMEG oven/cooktop accompanied by polished timber benches, period-style cabinetry, vintage tiles and a meals area with built-in breakfast nook/bench seating.
Easily connected to a formal dining room that could naturally serve as a 3rd bedroom or study/office (with a superb fireplace), the home also offers a spacious lounge with a heritage curved decorative fireplace, overlooking the lush and landscaped gardens.
Each of the bedrooms is substantial in size and light, whilst a pair of bathrooms have been contemporised with a sensitivity to the home's art deco origins. An updated bathroom (with built-in laundry) comes with new cabinetry, barn doors and a restored antique cistern, complete with modern tapware and fittings.
On a park-side corner allotment, opposite Crispe Park with access to rear parking and electronic gate, the home is privately nestled behind a high front fence that opens to reveal a tranquil front garden, in which a modern deck and custom daybed offer a sense of indulgence and relaxation.
Beautifully situated within walking distance of wonderful cafes and shopping at Edwardes St and Gilbert Rd, as well as Reservoir Railway Station and Edwardes Lake Park, the home is well suited to new market entrants, young families and downsizers.

Owners Notes

What we love about this home:
When we purchased this property two years ago, we knew it was special because it had the
unique qualities that would be hard to replicate anywhere else – a classic mid-century
character, a natural warmth and a genuine thoughtfulness in its design.

We love the secluded, stepped-into-an-oasis feeling as soon as you enter the front gate and
see the lush garden. In the interior, the house has small pockets that continue to surprise – like the built-in nooks that can hold plants, ceramics and artworks, the built-in wooden shelves that transform the hallway into a cosy library and the decorated high ceilings, giving a beautiful art-deco feel to the space.

With this character in mind, we knew there was potential to renovate the space and create
something even better, while preserving its natural period-charm. Inspired by colour, light,
texture, nature and location, we added another layer to the house by building upon the
connection of the interior and exterior.

The kitchen was the first area we tackled by replacing and painting all the kitchen cabinets in
a calming sage colour, integrated new earthy wooden benchtops and a classic, smeg stove
and oven in a vintage white. We re-tiled the kitchen with cream subway tiles and added
reclaimed, one-of-a-kind floral tiles to accentuate the chimney space. We also created
built-in-benches and seating to add storage as well as create a country-style kitchen feel (like
a retro breakfast booth) , taking advantage of the corner aspect of the garden that overlooks
the established veggie patches.

The second area was the laundry/storage room, which we transformed into a laundry and
second bathroom. This involved completely redesigning the space with a new shower, sinks,
timber benchtops, new piping, vintage-looking tiles, storage facilities and custom barn doors.
We also restored the antique and rare toilet cistern that was left at the house (previously
unused) by polishing the original powder-blue coating and adding a new copper pipe.

The last area we tackled was the garden and exterior at the front and back of the house. Here, we also completely redesigned and landscaped the garden with new grass, native flora and veggie patches, while also adding a large deck perfect for hosting family and friends and a long timber bench, perfect for reading a book or having a glass of wine. We also added a new wood fence (freshly painted) to the back of the house, complete with an electronic gate to the carport. The intention was to elevate the already welcoming feel of the garden by creating an open-plan entertaining area, showcase the beautiful eucalyptus tree (silver queen) in the front yard, as well as offer more ways to spend time in the garden.

At its core, this is a space that celebrates the very fundamental and simple things in life –
offering an aesthetically beautiful, comfortable and functional home, while also inspiring a
creative and meaningful lifestyle surrounded by nature.

What we love about this suburb:
Reservoir has been a great place to be for its proximity to parks, cafe and quick access to the city. In our spot in the neighbourhood in particular, we’ve loved being at the footsteps of Crispe Park (a fully-enclosed park for dogs) and being within walking distance to great cafes, the recently renovated train station and Edwardes Lake. It’s also in a quiet, family-friendly pocket, where you can hear the local birds every morning and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Why we are selling:
We have decided to sell the home to down-size and simplify our needs.
