We have loved being a part of the 1 Bik lane community for the past 4 years. After moving back from Sydney we felt at home in the gorgeous leafy suburb of Fitzroy North. Surrounded by a community of creatives, architects and entrepreneurs who share a love for the industrial nature and history of the old Cadet Shoes warehouse precinct of Bik lane.
5D is a uniquely private, architecturally designed residence that makes miraculous use of its compact footprint. A house that unfolds as you move through its different spaces. We still wonder at the plays of light and views that are revealed at different times throughout the day.
With a variety of spaces the house allows you to find your own quiet space to suit your mood. Nooks for reading and mindfulness, a studio for working, exercising or playing music. The roof deck is a wonderful retreat and a place to view the morning sunrise or enjoy drinks with friends in the late afternoon.
Situated (dangerously) close to Neighbourhood Wine, Babajan, The Empress hotel, Sibling and newly opened bar at the end of the lane, there is no shortage of desirable culinary options within a 5 minute walk from home. The neighbourhood is also home to and artisan food providors including the Fishmongers son and Marias Deli. We have loved being able to walk to the Piedemontes supermarket, organic grocer and Dench bakery at North Fitzroy village. Pick up some coffee and treats and head to the beautiful Edinburgh gardens for a walk. We have also loved the close proximity to the Capital City bike trail, enjoying picnics by the river and visits to the Abbotsofrd convent and the Collingwood children’s farm. The city is quickly accessed by the 96 tram on Nicholson St and in twelve minutes you’re in the centre of town enjoying Melbourne's best restaurants and entertainment.
