Owners Notes

What we love about this home: When we first bought this house it was the ugly duckling of the street! But we really loved the location as it was tucked away off main roads and there are few pretty streetscapes in Brunswick like it.  We have always loved Victorian homes and knew that under all the 60’s and 70’s additions that were done to the house there was a beautiful Victorian home underneath.

As we renovated over the years we tried to be really sensitive in our approach to ensuring we maintained the feel of the original Victorian.  When it came time to build the new kitchen/lounge/dining we wanted to compliment the old house, maintain the feel of combined nice sized rooms with high ceilings yet create a sense of openness to the garden areas that could be enjoyed no matter the season.  This combination of the new and old is what we love the most.

What we love about this suburb: Brunswick is a really vibrant suburb, we have lived in the area for over 15 years and it is forever evolving.  The lifestyle is great if you love diverse foods, going to music venues and going out to restaurants and bars.  Living in the suburb as opposed to visiting you also get the benefit of the rich cultural diversity of the residents, they are great people, often passionately community minded and really friendly.

Why we are selling: 2019 was a big year for us, we had substantial changes in family commitments and a health scare that as cliché as it sounds made us reevaluate our situation.  We decided to fast track our goals.

Unlike a lot of people we really enjoy the process of saving beautiful old homes that have fallen into disrepair. We recently fell in love with another one that offers us the additional benefit of being closer to our families so with some reservation we have decided to make the leap!

Any other information: it’s not just a pretty house, it’s a beautiful environment to live in and we hope the new custodian, will love it as much as we do.

Vendor Review

Highly recommended

Janine and the team at Nelson Alexander did a great job throughout the entire campaign. At our first meeting we were told that by the night before our auction we would sleep soundly knowing everything that could be done to run a good campaign would be. As comfortable as we felt about using The NE team we thought that was a big claim to make. They were right. We slept soundly knowing the campaign ran as well as it could and we were confident Janine really focused in on who our bidders would be on auction day. Tom gave great insight into what to expect on auction day and what we should anticipate. Not only did we get a great result but the team make the process as stress free as possible.
