Owners Notes
What we love about this home:
The original timber floors, the lovely light, the vintage charm, the sturdiness and warmth, the sense of sanctuary and seclusion, the big windows in the front with the beautiful window frames looking onto the front garden which attracted loads of birds and butterflies.
It’s also easy to clean and heat or cool. We also love having the park so close by and that the street is super quiet but also close to the Plenty Road trams. It’s walking distance to Preston Market, the Preston Train Station and the great cafes and bars on Plenty Road and Tyler St.
What we love about this suburb:
Preston has such an interesting diverse range of people which makes it colorful and vibrant. It feels welcoming and safe with a strong sense of community.
There are more and more great bars, breweries, cafes and restaurants establishing themselves in the area.
The local schools are great – Preston High School is gaining an excellent reputation.
Why we are selling:
We moved around the corner because we still love Preston. We needed room for a multigenerational family to live together.
Any other information:
The house also has espalier frames with lemon, orange, apple, plum, fig and pear trees. There is freestanding apricot, and peach trees. There are also raspberry canes and a strawberry patch. The garden at the front looks lush but is in fact filled with dry climate perennials so requires minimal maintenance – usually just a good prune in winter.
The house has central gas heating as well as new energy efficient Daikin split systems in the main living areas.
The house has Luxaflex honeycomb blinds to expel heat or keep warmth in.
The brickwork was repointed in 2018, re-roofed in 2021, and has recently been repainted, floors resanded, and new Miele kitchen appliances installed. A new front fence was installed in 2021.
