Easy living with exceptional space and style

So much more than meets the eye, this double-storey home combines a flexible floorplan with first-class renovations to deliver a brilliant low-maintenance lifestyle of family proportions – all in a blissfully quiet and convenient Thornbury neighbourhood.

The period-inspired facade makes way for a thoroughly modern interior comprising three bedrooms (large main) all with built-in robes, as well as a double-vanity bathroom with frameless shower and additional powder room (2nd WC) – both with floor-to-ceiling tiles.

Family credentials are further enhanced by a mezzanine-style retreat and a spacious open living/dining area accompanied by a superb stone-top kitchen with custom joinery, ample cupboard space, high-end European cooking appliances and dishwasher plus a home office with the potential to be reinstated as a garage.

Ducted heating and split-system air conditioning provide year-round comfort, while solar power and double-glazed windows (apart from one sliding door, which is an E‑Tech sliding door designed to accommodate a doggie door) ensure outstanding energy efficiency, along with the added appeal of a modern European laundry.

Step outside to discover a decked alfresco area including cafe blinds and integrated strip heater for all-seasons entertaining, plus a private backyard garden to enjoy and front off-street parking space.

Andrew Boyd Reserve around the corner along with local sporting facilities, Darebin Creek trails and a choice of bus routes, it also offers easy access to both Station Street and High Street shops, cafes and restaurants.

Owners Notes

What do you love about the home?

We have raised our boys in this home, and we have had so many cherished memories of major milestones celebrated with friends and family. Our home is not large, but like the room of requirement from Harry Potter, it has adapted, grown and accommodated us over the years, with multiple living and entertainment spaces, both indoors and out. Come hail or shine, many good times have been had, and we hope the same will continue. We love the light filled areas in our home. The large windows at the rear of the house create light and airy feel in the morning, while the light coming through the stained-glass panels on the front door of an afternoon, is one of the best features walking down the corridor.

The easy maintenance of the updated bathroom and powder room are a joy. We love our unique, custom designed kitchen. It has so much storage space, and functionality, it is a pleasure to work in. With large counter tops, breakfast bar and being centrally located to the living area, you are never away from the action. The upstairs loft is fabulous spot for reading a book, both cosy in winter and light and airy in summer, with the roof windows open for a lovely cross breeze. The outdoor area is lush and green; we put up a hammock in summer and enjoy the outdoors to the fullest.

We have an energy efficient home, with a 5-kilowatt solar panel system with 23 panels, double glazing throughout, and an e-tech sliding door (similar heating and cooling properties to double glazing) at the back, so we can have a doggy door, to assist with efficiency.

What do you love about the area?

We love the quiet pocket of Thornbury that we live in and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else in Melbourne. Close to Darebin Creek trail, for walks and runs. Loads of parks, schools, kindergartens, childcare facilities and more. We have had many a night walking to and from dinner and nights out along High St, Northcote or Fairfield Village. Hayes Park is just a short walk away, with its largely enclosed off leash dog area, that is shared with the local cricket club and soccer club. It has a great kid’s playground as well.

We are generally 10-15mins away from everything, with local smaller shopping centres, shopping strips and Northlands all close by. On a good day we can be at the airport in 25min, Doncaster shopping centre in 20min and the CBD in 15mins.
