Owners Notes

What we love about this home:

This is a light and bright home all year round. Passive solar design means sun streams into the house in winter but the eaves keep the sun out in summer. The decking at the back of the house is a lovely place for drinks or dinner in summer. This is a quiet family area but so close to the buzz of Sydney Road.

GREEN LIVING: The house has been fully insulated in walls, ceiling and under the floor. Other green features include:

  • double glazing to extension
  • near new 4.8kw solar system
  • productive vegetable garden
  • 3,600 litre rainwater tanks (plumbed to back toilet and garden taps)
  • water diverter in bathroom runs cold water on the front garden until the hot water comes through!

The city is an easy commute along the Upfield bike path. We are also a short walk from two tram lines and the train which gets you to the city in 20 minutes.

What we love about this suburb:

A FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURHOOD: We have lived here for more than ten years and have lovely neighbours on all sides. We have made some great friends in the area, especially among the other families with children. It’s an area where people are friendly and say hello to each other on the street.

GREAT FOOD: There are great places to eat nearby. Some of our favourites: Post Office Hotel for posh nosh, I Carusi for pizza, Hawat for Lebanese sweets, Half Moon Café for Melbourne’s best falafel!

Gervasi supermarket is great for Italian delicacies. And we usually shop at CERES farmers market on Saturdays.

PARKS: The Coburg Lake and nearby Merri Creek are beautiful spots.

Why we are selling:

We are raising our children bilingually and are moving – with heavy hearts! – to be near the German bilingual kindergarten and school.
