21 years ago I purchased what is known as a “renovator’s dream.” The inspiration was simple and my journey began.
From what was once a one bedroom workers cottage situated across the road from the old Northcote Brick works (which my father also worked at in the 60’s), this 1910 home had not seen much love or attention for a long time. My task and dream was simple. I was building a home, not just a house. A connection that is reflected from the statement I wrote and had etched onto the glass above the front door. “Bathe in your imagination. Be your own Creation.” And for the new owners, I bid you the same inspiration to make this your home and create your own dreams and inspiration.
When I purchased the property in 2000, there was no park across the road and the Northcote High St strip was in its early growing stage to what it is now. This home grew from those early beginnings.
I grew up in the area and have always love it. I appreciate and connected with my community, neighbours and its vibe of real living. The magic of Northcote can’t be reflected by a postcode. But by the people that share this piece of the world. And that was the magic that also contributed to this home.
I have spent many nights in the solitude of my rear garden, intimate dinners and just as importantly, my easy stroll home from High St.
Convenience of living with everything within a stroll’s walk made living easy and my moments here priceless.
My life has now taken a new path and feel it’s ready for the handing of the baton.
I am excited for the new owners of my home and know that the gifts of 112 will reward you with many great memories. And for those that are still on the search for their home, please remember, “ Bathe in your imagination. Be your own creation.”
