Owners Notes

Bringalbart, named by the previous owners after their property in the Wimmera, was our first Australian home, back in 1995. Some of our predecessors lovely red gum remains as the mantle shelf in the lounge and Bart the currawong, still guards the front entrance.

We chose the area as it has plenty of local parkland and good access to bike tracks. It is also an easy walk to 2 different tram routes into the city, as well as excellent local cafés and restaurants.

We were immediately captivated by the back veranda of the house, which is cool in the summer and sheltered in the winter and have enjoyed many a glass of wine in the evenings, watching the birds and butterflies.

I loved the heritage touches in the house- the stained glass and decorative ceilings, though truth be told, Mike was more excited at having a massive shed to play in! The kids (and the dog) would probably vote for the driveway, which has come in handy for housing the camper trailer/ping pong table/netball hoop and for racing up and down.

Bringalbert provided plenty of space for our two teenagers and plethora of overseas visitors, as well as allowing a dedicated study to work from home (especially handy in times of unexpected plague).

Over the last decade, our son has been living in the house with his young family. Both our children, and his, are grateful for the excellent state schools that this area affords and which we have now used for two generations.

To do our bit for the environment, we have double glazed the front rooms and put solar on the roof for both water and power. We also updated the shower room and laundry late last year and put down Covid-puppy proof kitchen flooring.

Sadly, the children have had to move on so it has come time to sell, which we do with great sadness.
