Owners Notes

What we love about this home:

This home feels like a country homestead in the city and has been home for 22 years. We feel like we have been the curators of a piece of local history. It’s the perfect blend of early 20th century authenticity & modern convenience. I love the fireplaces, especially in the kitchen. We have set the house up to have the option of an open environment or separate living zones with seasonal climate control. It’s been a great layout for young children & then young adults who enjoyed socialising with groups of friends at home. The garden flourishes all year & the roses & established fruit trees have thrived for decades. Jones Park is our backyard with a basketball ring, playground, off leash dog park, frog wetlands, Brunswick Velodrome, Merri Creek Trail & Ceres.

What we love about this suburb:
We have enjoyed being a part of the local community as it is diverse, creative, ethical, inclusive & down to earth. As you walk out of the back gate & along the Merri Creek it’s hard to believe that you are in a suburb that is so close to the city. This end of Brunswick is very safe & quiet. The street is wide with plenty of free & unlimited parking for friends & Albion St is a 40kmph zone. The closest trams are an 8 min walk & less than 20 mins ride to the city & numerous bike paths heading north & south. It’s a short walk out the front door to Lygon St cafes, restaurants & bars. East Brunswick Village is a convenient shopping destination as the parking is easy. We have access to entertainment at Pentridge Cinemas, Cinema Nova & live music at the Lomond Hotel & a number of venues on Sydney Road.

Why we are selling:

I have been working towards running my own horse ranch in a picturesque country town & have reached the point of having too many bedrooms in Brunswick and too few paddocks for ponies. If I could pick up my home & put it on acreage, I’d do it in a heartbeat! It’s bittersweet, as we love it but it’s time to move on.
