Owners Notes

What we love about this home:

When we bought the home, we were drawn to its warmth and period character. Over the years as we have grown our family, we’ve made improvements inside and out, increasing the street appeal and making it a great place to entertain. We love how the light fills the living space in the morning and mid-afternoon, and how the main bedroom enjoys light streaming through the led-light windows all day with the established front garden offering privacy. We are particularly fond of the backyard and garden. The mixture of mature trees and small shrubs, along with three sitting areas and plenty of lawn makes the backyard very inviting all year round and perfect for BBQs and a great space for children as well as any pets. Springtime is especially beautiful with new flowers appearing each year from a garden that will continue to surprise you.Recently painted inside and out, it has been a wonderful home to entertain family and friends all year round, either gathered round the central kitchen/living area, or sitting outside during summer with your choice of sunny or shaded areas. We’ve also enjoyed curling up with a good book in the main bedroom as the dappled light beams through the led-light windows.

What we love about this area:

We love that our home is walking distance to some of the most beautiful park and wetlands in the north, from Strettle wetlands to Merri Creek, as well as the ever-popular Turner Reserve and its abundance of toys, or the four other playgrounds just a stone’s throw away. Most of all we have enjoyed the tranquillity of Rennie Street, with public transport options and main roads at your doorstep, but yet not close enough to disturb the peace and quiet of this centrally located residence. Together with friendly neighbours that are always happy to help, the proximity to cafes, fresh food and shops, means you can enjoy the social and recreational aspects that makes Thornbury shine, or retire for the day with no disturbances at all. With the proximity to Bell Primary School and your choice of two zoned senior schools of Coburg and Preston High, Thornbury is a thriving suburb with many families and lots of friendly people who create a real sense of community. At 55 Rennie Street you’ll learn very quickly that you can borrow a wrench from Tom across the road, a wheel-barrow from Michael next door, or find yourself enjoying Yvonne’s limes or rhubarb each season from her garden over the fence. Families walk their children to school together, host street libraries or share community compost bins, and each weekend you can catch Division soccer at Mayer Park, girl’s AFL at AH Capp Reserve, or play a round of golf at Northcote with the first tee less than a kilometre away. It is quite literally perfect for anyone at any stage of their life.

Is there anything else?
The front and rear gardens are such pleasing spaces to view or sit in. We have thoroughly enjoyed tending to this garden and adding blooms to enhance its vibrancy. While green all year round, from early winter the roses at the front begin to bloom and then come springtime, you’ll find a new flower appears each day, from whites,, blues and purples to pinks and reds.We are truly going to miss the garden where we have made countless memories over the years. Our children will miss chasing after bubbles, doing cartwheels on the lawn and running through the sprinkler. It has been our own little oasis and we trust the next owners will make it their own special sanctuary too.
