Townhouse 10: I have enjoyed living in my townhouse so much that I’ve stayed for 17 years! I’m only leaving because it’s time for me to downsize, but even so I’m moving only a few blocks away! Fitzroy North is a wonderful place to live.

There have been so many advantages to this property, and I take with me many great memories – of lunches and dinners with friends and family, of wonderful tranquil time on my north facing terrace and in the sun-drenched sitting room. The views from my townhouse are very rewarding – historic buildings, attractive common terrace and beautiful trees which look wonderful in any season. My townhouse is full of light on every floor.

A great advantage is the sense of collaboration and friendliness among the members of the community – people support each other and enjoy special occasions together. We have young and older people living here, everyone respects each other’s privacy and need for quiet after hours.

The property is very well managed by the body corporate committee and management company. The grounds are attractive and well looked after, and we all feel confident in our management systems. The underground carpark is easily accessible, with 2 tandem carparks attached to my property. The security in the complex is great, and I have never once felt insecure here.

The local area is superb, for living, eating, walking and general enjoyment. There are great restaurants in in area, Dench and the Tinpot to name a couple of special cafes, and some up market restaurants like Matteos nearby. The beautiful historic Edinburgh Gardens are a few blocks away for relaxed picnics and walks. There are several great public transport routes into the city, especially tram down Nicholson St and St Georges Rd/Brunswick St. Buses also run along Holden St to the city.

I spent most of my time in the middle floor, but have really appreciated the advantage of good rooms for guests, and study space. It is great to give guests the opportunity to use the whole ground floor if they need it! I’ve found it very useful to work on both the ground and middle floors. The bottom bedroom also has its own terrace/entrance to the back lane.

I’ve renovated my two bathrooms and kitchen in the last two years, and the rest of the property is in excellent condition.

I will be sad to leave, but am very confident that the new owner will quickly discover all the great advantages of living in No 10.
