A rare Fitzroy North sanctuary
Over two expansive levels, this stylish mid-century sanctuary delivers four generous bedrooms and multiple living zones designed for family life. The impressive central entry hall opens to two large bedrooms, a central bathroom, and an elegant living room flowing through to the dining area and gourmet kitchen, all with leafy garden views.
Thoughtfully designed, the Cantilever kitchen is a true highlight with quality appliances, abundant storage, a freestanding island bench, and a clever servery window that opens directly to the garden for effortless indoor-outdoor entertaining.
Upstairs, a relaxed family room with a gas log fire opens to a balcony framed by leafy treetop views, alongside a central bathroom with separate bath and two further bedrooms. Outdoors, a large and established garden creates a private haven, complete with a paved alfresco area for dining and a side drive leading to the garage.
Added highlights include hydronic heating, split system heating and cooling, separate laundry, ample storage, water tanks, solar panels and car charger.
Walk to St Georges Road and Nicholson Street trams, parks, trails, local shops, cafes, and schools, with zoning to Merri Creek Primary and Northcote High.
With its rare blend of space, style and seclusion, this is inner-city family living redefined.
Owners Notes
What we love about this home:
We bought this house in 1997 when our two children had just started school. We were looking for a family house in the area with a backyard big enough for a full sized trampoline. The concrete backyard was quickly converted to a large garden with a great entertaining area and plantings chosen to provide a changing colour palette through the seasons. The original house had only two bedrooms and an outside toilet, but a major renovation at the turn of the century provided additional living and bedroom spaces, as well as an upstairs northeast facing balcony. This has become an early morning coffee space, listening to the birdlife and watching their activities in the garden and the Merri Creek which feels like natural extension to our own backyard.
We’ve renovated the house over the years, each time ensuring it maintains its midcentury clean style and open spaces. We’ve also added environmentally sustainable features, such as solar panels, an EV charger and rain water storage tanks. We have recently redesigned the kitchen to be more practical for those who love to cook and to entertain in the house and using the outdoor area.
What we love about this suburb:
We love our neighborhood for its strong sense of community and identity. Everything a family needs is close by, including both Merri Creek Primary School and Northcote High School. Easy access to parkland, playgrounds, shops, sporting grounds and the CBD makes for a relaxed and family friendly life. We love the bike path and its an easy walk or bike ride to CERES.
Why we are selling:
A fabulous family home is only ever sold when the children have left. It is also time for us to start our next adventure.
