COVID-19 FAQs: Landlords

Since the pandemic began several months ago, Nelson Alexander has implemented a number of virtual processes and safety guidelines and, although our doors are currently closed, we’re still working for our clients, albeit a little differently.

In Melbourne, Stage 4 restrictions have created questions for landlords, we’ve answered some of the most frequently asked below.

Leasing property

Q. How can I arrange an appraisal of my home or investment?

The Victoria Government have now taken an additional step to support homeowners and residential investors - this means, a Nelson Alexander Property Manager is able to meet you at your property to conduct an appraisal and we would be delighted to help.

Our team are also available to speak to you via Zoom, Facetime, email or phone for an appraisal, or to provide you with a comprehensive update of the current rental market.

Q. I have a new tenant moving in, will you still complete a condition report?

Yes, this process remains the same in line with COVID safe measures.

During a tenancy

Q. My property is due for a Routine Inspection, will this go ahead?

Whilst we are not currently scheduling physical inspections, if you have an overdue Routine Inspection your tenant may be asked to assist in a virtual one.

Q. I am experiencing Financial Hardship due to the pandemic, what should I do?

Should you be experiencing financial hardship and require assistance, please contact your Property Manager in writing as soon as possible. Our team have been trained to assist in this area and we have processes in place in line with Government guidelines.

Q. Can you still conduct a Final Inspection once the tenants have moved out?

Yes, this process remains the same in line with COVID safe measures.

How we operate through these restrictions is continuously evolving as further updates are released from the Victorian Government, but rest assured we will communicate these changes and how they might affect you as we learn more.
