Owners Notes

We have had an amazing five years living at 68 Studley Street. We wanted the best of being close to the city as well as the Yarra River Parklands.

We didn’t have children when we bought the house, but now the close proximity to parks has been a lifesaver (one on the street and the superbly renovated Gahan Reserve).

Living here during lockdowns only highlighted the strong sense of community in Abbotsford. Studley Street has its own WhatsApp group and you are only ever a message away from the loan of a power tool, a warning about parking inspectors or a fresh bunch of parsley for your dinner. Where else can you live that is walking distance from the CBD, while also being pretty much guaranteed to bump into a friendly neighbour at the coffee shop or in the pub?

We fell in the love with the house at first sight (viewing it for the first time and buying it on the same day!) The combination of old and new features really appealed to us, the high ceilings, ornate ceiling rose features matched with quirky lightbulbs and the concrete floors with all day north sun warming them up underfoot. The option for off street parking, while also being five minutes from not one but two train stations (Collingwood and Victoria Park) which is so practical and convenient.

We have seen the local area flourish, Johnson Street has great bars, shops, breweries and coffee shops. It recently had its own festival to support local businesses (called ‘LOJO’ after Lower Johnson Street). Within 300 metres you have our favourite coffee shops Kelso’s (also does great cheese toasties) and Blume (get there early enough for a blueberry scone on Saturdays). Our favourite pizza in Melbourne at Rita’s, drinks and burgers at Lulie’s or a parma and a pot at The Park or The Retreat. Aside from eating and drinking we love running the many Yarra Trails or walking through Collingwood Children’s Farm along the river up to Dights Falls.

We have loved living here and are only moving because we need more space now we have two children. We hope you will be as happy here as we have been!
