Owners Notes
This house was built over 100 years ago, and has been our family home for 52 years. We planted the Japanese Maple in the back garden and have watched it grow and change colours through half a century of seasons. This house is a haven, providing comfort and stability for three generations now.
There has always been a lemon tree in the back garden - they love the soil – and now there are quince and blood orange trees as well. The kitchen has hosted many a lively dinner party, and the back garden has seen some excellent birthday celebrations. The library and studio out the back nurtured an academic career and half a dozen books were written out there; hundreds were read!
The sound of rain on the tin roof has lulled us to sleep, and the morning light that comes on to the kitchen table is soft and welcoming for breakfast. On New Year’s Eve, we have a spectacular view across the cemetery to the fireworks, and every night the city lights twinkle at us. Some mornings we see hot air balloons drifting overhead, and the tree lined walk down to ‘our park’ is a daily pleasure. We have had street parties with neighbours in the lane, and heard the sounds of classical music lessons floating down from the community centre. Our new bathroom has the serene atmosphere of a quiet gallery space.
We love the back garden for playing, sitting, growing flowers and vegetables, and for the birds who come to visit. The high ceilings and different light in every room make for peaceful, calming spaces with art on the walls and beloved possessions. This has been a true home for us. We hope the new owner finds it as happy and safe as we have for all these years.
