Owners Notes

We purchased 20 Gordon Street 6 years ago as we wanted a modern light filled home without foregoing period features and charm. Each room is generously proportioned and versatile - even on an overcast Melbourne day the spaces remain light and comfortable. We’ve spent many summer nights in the large and leafy alfresco courtyard entertaining. In summertime the deciduous trees provide shade and, when winter comes around and the leaves are gone, you get the winter sun beaming in. The modern extension cohesively flows to the original period hallway and bedrooms. The bedrooms are large with high ceilings and the original floorboards add such character and warmth. As the terrace is semi-detached, even the middle bedroom has a large window looking on to greenery.

The location of Gordon Street promotes a happy and healthy lifestyle. Whether ending a busy workday strolling through Darling Gardens, having a hit at Clifton Hill Tennis Club, or getting dirty hands in the Gordon Street Community Garden, you are connected to open space and vibrant amenities.

One thing we didn’t appreciate when we moved to Clifton Hill was how little we would reach for the car keys. Clifton Hill Station is situated on two train lines providing a ‘turn up and go’ service. A short walk takes you to diverse shops on Queens Parade or Smith Street. The trails along the Yarra River take you further afield. You’re spoilt for choice with quality cafes, pubs and restaurants. And for the few times that you do get behind the wheel, it’s easy to get a park on Gordon Street following implementation of parking permits.

Gordon Street has a wonderful community. People look out for each other, and the street has regular gatherings including a Christmas party and gatherings in the Gordon Street Community Garden. You feel part of the community.
