Owners Notes

This family home has been the ideal place to raise our two children. The local community is friendly, with an annual Christmas party and What’s App group, and kids of similar age in the street. North Fitzroy Primary School provided a great start for both kids and a springboard for academic success at high school and university.

We love the choice of eateries. The sourdough from Natural Tucker or Dench, and palmieres and croissants from A Treat of France are some of the best in Melbourne. The B.EAST on Lygon St was the go-to spot when our kids were teenagers, while Rumi is still a staple for yummy Lebanese food, and Horn Please for Indian. Carolina and the Tin Pot are both Cafes offering great food and atmosphere. Singh's takeaway is a place of local legend.

We renovated the kitchen before moving in 17 years ago and it’s still a great space to cook in. Some of the leftover tiles were used to create the mosaic house number at the front. This, and a trip to Barcelona, led to a passion for mosaicking which can be seen throughout the garden.

In 2013 the modern extension gave us the spaces we needed for older kids. They frequently invited groups of friends over for parties whilst we moved to a different part of the house.

The garden is a joy and is set up to be easy maintenance. For those with green fingers there is space and established plants to allow them to spend many happy hours outdoors. The tomato harvests shape summer eating. When too busy, it’s really a matter of a bit of watering in Summer and a couple of hours of pruning in Autumn.

As well as our neighbours, we are going to miss the chickens immensely. The largest mosaic on the property is a portrait of Jana, who was a formidable hen with a penchant for escaping the coop. Our daughter’s band The Vovos named their first album after her and this has been discussed on local community radio 3RRR FM (just up the road). The current flock of five is comprised of Caesar, Ken, Kory, Tandoori and Paella. We would be very happy to see the new owners of the house adopt them, but of course can rehome them too!
