Owners Notes
What do you love about the home?
When James first walked me through the property 13 years ago as a shell my immediate thoughts and feelings were:
Wow great location, top of the hill, north facing sun at back of the building, windows on 3 sides, extra wide 7 meter width which is not a bad combination of features for an inner city warehouse.
As we walked out of the lane that day I got a very strong sense that this would be very good for our family. This building, house, home has been incredibly good for our family, extended family
and friends, I’m very grateful those who built it and to have lived and shared it with those I love the most. - Julie and Adrian (owners)

History: We don’t know a lot of the history other than it being a dairy in the very early days. I expect this might explain the double red doors on Level 1 to Dangerfield Lane and the beam and pulley (maybe to hoist sheafs of hay to store above horse stables). The property had the original address of 550A Queensberry Street and the old number which was attached to the brick exterior now sits in the ground level foyer.
The build: The total process from settlement in March 2013-move in-March 2019 was 6 years including all design, building and town planning works. To get utilities(electricity, water, sewer and communications underground in the lane MCC had to go through a Gazetting process to allow it to become a public lane (now Strang Lane) which enabled utilities to come up the lane and into the property. The 360 degree, uninterrupted view from the rooftop was a priority for the design of the home as the city skyline feels within touching distance from Strang Lane and New Year’s Eve fireworks are sensational!
Favourite location features: Walk to Queen Vic Market, 5 local pubs, Amiconi’s, Bread Top around the corner as is the Local Grocer along with a long list of high quality cafes like our neighbour Auction Rooms Cafe. Since owning the property two new Train stations have popped up at Arden and Parkville which makes CBD or southern commutes so much easier. If you are heading down the Princes Highway to Geelong, Surf Coast or Bellarine Peninsula, the new Westgate Tunnel takes 25 minutes of the trip!
Internal size: 275m2
Terrace and rooftop: 65m2
