Spacious renovated family home in a sought-after location
We’ve loved living in 1 Clara St, Preston. It’s been in the family for over 30 years and has been our family home since we renovated it completely in 2012. At the time, we stressed to the builder we wanted the renovation done properly because it had to stand the test of time. He was meticulous in retaining the art deco features in the front rooms while seamlessly blending in the modern throughout the rest of the house. We wanted space and light, plenty of storage, the ability to keep an eye on the kids unobtrusively, whether in the back garden or living area, and sustainable living – hence the solar panels, solar hot water system, double glazing and water tank to minimise bills and the environmental footprint.
The location is also ideal for family life – it’s a quiet street with friendly neighbours. The kids have a choice of parks nearby and Regent Village offers a selection of cafés such as the Cheshire and eateries – from Acqua e Farina pizzeria in one direction to Baps Nepalese Restaurant in the other. You’re within walking distance of JS Grey Kindergarten and the highly rated West Preston Primary School. There’s also the Hot Spot Bikram Yoga studio and Audacious Monk Cellars for some grown-up time. Preston Market and supermarkets are just round the corner and you have a choice of transport options – easy cycling distance to the city along the Northern Pipe Trail, and the Mernda train line and 11 Tram if it’s wet.
