Owners Notes

When we bought the house 5 years ago, it needed some love! We've spent the past 5 years uncovering and restoring the beautiful original elements of the home and enhancing with modern touches. The wide hall and large bedrooms are some of our favourite things about the home. We will miss the natural light and high ceilings - they make the internal spaces feel very generous.

We worked with Andy from Leaf by Leaf to design two different but cohesive outdoor spaces... we wanted the front yard to feel sculptural, using natives and importantly enhanced the facade of the house. When painting the house, we used Dulux Domino to create a dramatic shadow and allow the garden, and particularly the silver princess gums, to be the focus. We love the garden and often get stopped by someone passing by with a lovely compliment or question.

In the backyard, Andy designed a practical outdoor room. Its hosted many bbqs with friends and family, its such a great space to entertain we don't bother taking the festoon lights down. In lockdown we had a new appreciation for the yard and the fire pit - entertaining ourselves with outdoor movies projected on to the fence.

Preston has changed quite a bit since we moved in... we love the market being so close and never bother driving because the carpark is a nightmare. There are also many other great options in Preston, some of our faves include:

We also love the proximity to Thornbury - 5mins on the tram and we are enjoying Pallino, Carwyn Cellars, Umbertos or Super Ming. One of our absolute favourite things about this house is the tram stop! With the help of tram tracker, we can brush our teeth and leave the house with one minute to spare and always catch the tram!
