A Sublime Fusion of Period Presence and Contemporary Class
Owners Notes
What We Love
House
- The generosity of the 1920s sized bedrooms and gracious hallway – we wanted a period house that felt commodious
- The wonderful natural light that floods in throughout the day – from the morning sun that trails through the front bedrooms through to the afternoon sun dancing on the beautiful parquetry floors in the back living, dining & kitchen area
- The lushness of the front and back gardens - in particular, we love the fact that our back yard ‘borrows’ views of blue sky and towering gums – priceless for an inner city pad.
Neighbourhood
- The school grounds have acted as a natural extension of our back yard – we’ve had many al fresco dinner parties where the children have nicked off with their friends to hang out in the playground, play a game of spot-o or shoot some hoops
- Being literally a stone’s throw away from some of the best bike and walking trails has made us more active as a family – whether that’s a quick pedal to the Collingwood Children’s Farm, hiring a rowboat at Fairfield Boat House or simply taking a mindful turn of the Labyrinthe with the pooch
- Clifton Hill is the equivalent of the land that time forgot – it has an amazing community feel and spirit. The house has everything you need within a 10 minute walk – the small but perfectly formed continental grocer loved by all - Flowers of Sorrento (best apples ever!) -through to the gem of a neighbourhood wine bar (Spensley’s) and Friday night take-out stalwarts at What’s Fishin’ who also happen to do a really mean fish curry.
A final comment…
We have loved living at 19 Clifton Street – being flanked by parklands, bird song, the Merri Creek and Yarra River has been an absolute privilege and a joy. COVID in particular made us truly appreciative of this very special pocket that we’ve been lucky enough to call home for close to 10 years. We know whoever becomes its next owner will be very happy here.
