3 Christmas activities to enjoy in Boroondara

If you’re looking at a few neighbourhoods and thinking about where to live in Melbourne, you might notice that the Christmas spirit has taken a hold of the city. Whether you have kids or not, you’ll find a plethora of festivities to be enjoyed. This is particularly true in the City of Boroondara, which is celebrating the season with all kinds of community activities.

Let’s take a look at three Christmas events happening in the area:

Writing to Santa

This one will be a real delight for the kids. From now until December 18, people will have the chance to post a letter to the jolly St Nicholas himself. So long as they’re enclosed in a stamped self-addressed envelope, Santa will personally write back to each and every one. Children can drop their letters off at the Christmas Mail Box on Walpole Street, which is a just a short hop away for families living in Kew real estate.

Cotham Christmas giveaway

Now what is Christmas without some gifts. Fortunately, this is an event that that adults will be more that enthusiastic to join in on. Traders and retailers from the Cotham Village have once again come together to hold The Amazing Cotham Village Christmas Giveaway. Running until December 19, residents have the opportunity to win a variety of gift hampers, with the grand prize being one valued at over $2,000.

To enter, all you have to do is make a purchase of at least $10 at one of the participating traders and fill out an entry ticket. For every $10 you spend, you’re entitled to one more ticket! So if you’re stuck on Christmas gift ideas, why not check out the stores in the Cotham Village.

The Cotham Village Christmas Giveaway means you could buy a gift that gives right back.

A Christmas story

The city council has created its own special children’s book called ‘A Boroondara Christmas Story’. Distributed to 40 primary schools throughout the region, this colourful and illustrated story tells the tale of two siblings from Boroondara as they wait for Santa’s arrival. From there, a wondrous journey begins for these characters.

While this can be viewed online at your own pleasure, the real fun is seeing the larger-than-life interactive book installation outside the Camberwell Library. There will also be Christmas decorations promoting the book around local shopping areas and throughout the area.

So if you’re searching for a Melbourne suburb to live in, why not stop by Boroondara and take part in a few activities. You might just fall in love with the neighbourhood while you’re at it.
