Our favourite coffee spots in Brunswick

Melburnians have a love affair with coffee that dates back decades. The first commercial espresso machine is said to have been installed in Café Florentino, Bourke Street, Melbourne in 1928.

Over 90 years later and Melbourne’s cafe culture is serving what we believe is some of the best coffee in the world. Don’t take our word for it though – check out our favourite coffee spots in Brunswick

Code Black Coffee

Inside a sleek black industrial space on Weston Street you’ll find a team of experts and baristas who are serious about coffee. They ethically source beans from all over the world then roast them to perfection on site. That means that the barista standing behind the wood grain MVP machine only pours super fresh coffee (and trust us – you can taste the difference).

They also serve the ultimate coffee companion – avo on toast and a host of other killer breakfast options.

Padre Coffee

Around a decade ago a little cafe and roastery in Brunswick opened and starting making waves. Fast forward to today and Padre Coffee is still serving the good stuff from their original base on Lygon Street, and have opened several others around the country.

They curate and roast their own single origin and blended coffees out the back and serve them fresh out front in their light and airy cafe space.

Lux Foundry

Just off Sydney Road there’s a gorgeous brick heritage building. Inside its tall glass doors brunch and coffee enthusiasts gather seven days a week. The Lux brekky roll and the crispy poached eggs are worth visiting for alone, but the coffee is the main event.

Using beans from the boutique Collingwood based roastery Proud Mary, these guys create a cuppa that will take your breath away.

Home.One

Wander down Florence Street and you’ll find home.one, a hole in the wall, non-profit social enterprise serving up specialty Wood And Co. coffee all day long. They also make delicious porridge and filled bagels. 100% of the profits are reinvested into helping young people to escape from homelessness.
