Where to find Melbourne's best Bagels for a mid-week treat

Looking for a mid-week lunch treat? Us too! There is truly nothing more comforting than carb-loading on a delicious bagel, filled with your favourite toppings! The next few weeks in Melbourne mean our most loved local businesses are continuing to pivot with their take-away options, so we’ve put together a list of our favourite bagel options (tried & tested) by the Nelson Alexander team.

Schmucks Bagels, Melbourne CBD: Remember when carbs weren’t evil, coffee was caffeinated, and food was wholesome? Schmucks Bagels do! You can choose from sesame, seedy grain, rye, Vegemite, blueberry or gluten-free bagel and choose your filling from their extensive menu. Our personal favourite is the “Salt’n’Saucer” on a Rye Bagel.

Mile End Bagels, Fitzroy: Located on Johnston Street, Mile End Bagels are boiled in honey water and then baked in their wood-fired oven to achieve the perfect bagel. Their menu offers 12 different filling choices, and our pick is #7: Smoked salmon, dill & caper cream cheese, tomato & red onion (on the Dark Rye bagel).

Take Two Bagels, Brunswick East: Located in the heart of Brunswick East, Take-Two Bagels are boiled and baked, fresh daily, using locally sourced and their own in-house ingredients. Our recommendation? The #12 (Halloumi, Tomato, Spanish Onion, Dill Mayo, Rocket, Tomato Relish, Lemon Oil)

Glick’s Bakery, Balaclava, Malvern, Caufield South, & Bentleigh: A tradition for over 50 years. The Glick's name is synonymous with the best bagels in Melbourne. We can’t go past their pizza bagel!
