Wondering what to do in Melbourne this June?

As winter slowly but surely rolls in, you may be on the hunt for some fun (and warm) activities to fill your calendar with this June. The beauty about living in a city as vibrant, creative and culturally exuberant as Melbourne is that there is always something interesting to see and do.

Whether you love the drama of theatre, provoking your senses at an art exhibition or indulging in unique food experiences (and let's face it, who doesn't?), there is something for everyone this June in Melbourne.

French Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston at the NGV - Melbourne (4 June - 3 October)

From June 4th, household names of the French Impressionist movement such as Monet, Renoir, Cassat and more will be making an appearance (don't worry, not literally) at the National Gallery of Victoria.

The French Impressionist movement that came about in the late nineteenth century revolutionised modern art. Transitioning from the studio to the outdoors, artists of the time captured the transience of natural light and depth of nature in their paintings.

Paintings by these artists have continuously taken the breath away from their observers, and even if you aren't really that 'into' art, you're likely to have a wonderful experience at this exhibition.

Winter Night Market, Queen Victoria Market - Melbourne (2 June - 25 August)

Based at Queen Victoria Market, the Winter Night Market will fill the streets of central Melbourne every Wednesday evening right up until August. You can expect a truly atmospheric evening brimmed with all the things we Melburnians love.

Have a little dance to some live music, shop for unique artisan items, warm your belly with a hot drink and tantalise your tastebuds with some hearty street food. Whether you have an appetite for savoury or sway towards sweet, there will be a dish for everyone to get stuck into.

Treasures of the Natural World, Melbourne Museum - Carlton (12 June - 31 January)

Are you ready to be in awe at some of the most amazing artifacts this planet has seen? This June, Treasures of the Natural World comes to Melbourne Museum. Many incredible gems will feature in this exhibition, all of which have come from London, UK, and beyond!

Take a look into the fascinating past of Mother Earth, with over 200 artefacts, each displaying some of the richest ingredients of life itself. You can see a collection of Charles Darwin's inspiration for his groundbreaking theories and fossils that are hundreds of millions of years old.

This enriching experience is perfect for families and romantic days out alike. Get lost in a world within a world at Melbourne Museum this June.

Because the Night, Malthouse Theatre - Southbank (23 March - 26 June)

Explore an immersive theatre experience like no other at The Malthouse this winter. Portraying storytelling in its finest form, this performance distorts the boundaries of traditional stage vs audience theatre.

Through a labyrinth of rooms, attendees will roam through the town of Elsinore, a world where things are falling apart and simultaneously coming together as the new age approaches. However you may enter the setting and the actions you take, a story will unfold around you as you witness a history-defining moment in this strange town that bears the weight of many secrets.
