A guide to real estate apps

The obvious ones are our own app and those of the major property portals, which allow users to scroll through listings. But those are only the beginning. There is an entire world of apps that buyers, sellers, and property lovers alike will find informative.

Purchasing property can be overwhelming, and any tool that helps you feel more in control of the process is worth experimenting with.

Here are a handful that might be of interest:

Houzz Interior Design Ideas

Houzz has a library of images showcasing design ideas for every room in the house. Want to redo a kitchen, but not sure where to start? Inspecting a property that ticks some of your boxes, but not entirely sure how to style it? Searching for inspiration when presenting your home to the market? Houzz will help. CNN has described this app as the “Wikipedia of interior and exterior design”. The active Houzz community is also an excellent source of advice.

Dulux Colour App

This nifty app from Dulux allows you to capture and match any colour to the dulux range, browse the library of over 4,500 colours and visualise your favourite colours in both interior and exterior settings.

Around Me

This app can assist when you are looking at property in an unfamiliar area and you are unsure of what’s nearby. Users can choose a business category – like restaurants, taxis, or supermarkets – and then see a complete list of all nearby locations.

Magic Plan

Put simply, this app creates indoor maps. While floor plans are frequently available on brochures, Magic Plan provides the option of adding objects and making notes. No measuring or drawing is necessary, and it’s easy to share the finished map with other users. It’s a simple way to get an idea of how your own furniture and belongings might fit in a new space.

iScape Lite Landscape Designs

This app assists in plotting ideas for the garden. Creating or overhauling a garden is time consuming, and it’s not always easy to communicate those ideas to others. And for those who lack a green thumb, deciding what to do with even a small yard can be a headache. iScape provides some much need guidance on the types of plants, flowers and water features which might work, and allows you to visualise the finished project. The paid version also allows you to make in-app purchases.
